DTCC to tokenize Wall Street assets on Stellar by 2027
DTCC will tokenize stocks, ETFs, and Treasuries on Stellar by 2027, aiming for faster settlements and transparency. Digital Asset leads tech; Stellar key for public blockchain phase.
The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) is advancing a major initiative to tokenize traditional financial assets—including stocks, ETFs, and U.S. Treasuries—targeting a launch on the Stellar blockchain by mid-2027. This move is part of DTCC’s broader multi-chain strategy to modernize financial infrastructure, following regulatory clearance via a December 2025 SEC no-action letter. While some reports have overstated Stellar’s role, Digital Asset is the primary technology partner for the initial tokenization platform. Stellar will become essential during the public blockchain phase, supporting broader accessibility and interoperability. The integration aims to deliver faster settlements, lower costs, enhanced transparency, and improved liquidity, all while maintaining regulatory compliance. This initiative will enable institutional investors to access tokenized securities on Stellar, bridging traditional markets with blockchain technology and positioning DTCC at the forefront of Wall Street’s digital transformation.
