AWS, Coinbase & Stripe unveil real-time crypto payments
AWS, Coinbase, and Stripe launched a system for AI agents to make real-time USDC micropayments for digital services, with compliance controls and instant settlement, advancing autonomous agentic commerce.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has launched Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Payments, a new infrastructure enabling autonomous AI agents to make real-time online purchases and micropayments using USDC stablecoins. Developed in partnership with Coinbase and Stripe, the platform integrates Coinbase’s x402 protocol and Stripe’s Privy wallet infrastructure, allowing AI agents to pay for APIs, web content, cloud services, and other digital tools. Transactions are settled within milliseconds on the Base and Solana blockchains, featuring built-in compliance controls, spending limits, and transparent auditing for enterprises. The system addresses compliance and operational challenges in deploying autonomous AI systems, offering a unified framework for wallet management and payment execution. Users can fund wallets with stablecoins or fiat, and developers can integrate these features within existing AWS environments. This launch highlights the growing adoption of blockchain-based payment rails for the agentic economy, where AI agents transact independently. Future updates will support larger transactions, such as hotel bookings and merchant payments.
