Visa and WeFi partner to bridge crypto and payments
Visa and WeFi partner to bring stablecoin payments and on-chain banking to traditional finance, focusing on user self-custody and select global markets.
Visa has announced a partnership with WeFi to develop on-chain banking and stablecoin-based payment solutions. This collaboration aims to bridge blockchain technology with traditional payment systems, focusing initially on regulated stablecoins for everyday transactions. The rollout will begin in selected markets across Europe, Asia, and Latin America, with further expansion subject to regulatory approvals. WeFi’s platform prioritizes user self-custody, enabling individuals to control their digital assets without depending on centralized exchanges. The initiative is designed to integrate blockchain-based value into conventional financial activities, supporting use cases such as cross-border payments and on-chain value storage. By combining Visa’s global payment network and regulatory expertise with WeFi’s decentralized finance infrastructure, the partnership seeks to make digital asset payments practical and scalable. This addresses the increasing demand for financial services that offer transparency and user control.
