ClearBank Europe gains MiCA approval for crypto services

ClearBank Europe is the first Dutch bank approved under MiCA to offer crypto services, enabling institutional clients to access Circle’s EURC and USDC stablecoins in a regulated environment.

ClearBank Europe, headquartered in the Netherlands, has become the first Dutch credit institution to receive approval under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation for offering crypto asset services. The Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) has confirmed ClearBank’s status as a Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP), enabling it to operate digital asset services across the EU without requiring additional licenses. Through this approval, ClearBank will provide institutional clients with access to Circle’s euro-pegged (EURC) and U.S. dollar-pegged (USDC) stablecoins via the Circle Mint platform. This service allows clients to seamlessly convert between fiat currencies and stablecoins within a regulated banking environment, potentially streamlining cross-border payments. Serving over 270 institutional clients, 1.7 million individual customers, and managing more than $13 billion in assets, ClearBank aims to bridge traditional banking infrastructure with blockchain networks. Its strategy focuses on supporting faster and more efficient digital asset transactions across Europe.
