KBC Group launches Belgium’s first regulated crypto trading

KBC Group launches Belgium’s first regulated crypto trading, letting retail clients trade Bitcoin and Ethereum on Bolero with secure custody and strict EU compliance.

KBC Group, a leading Belgian financial institution, has introduced Belgium’s first regulated cryptocurrency trading service in collaboration with Swiss fintech Taurus. This new service is available to retail clients through KBC’s Bolero investment platform, enabling them to trade Bitcoin and Ethereum within a fully regulated banking environment. KBC employs Taurus-PROTECT as its institutional-grade custody solution, ensuring the secure management of digital assets. The platform operates as a closed-loop system, meaning that crypto assets bought and sold remain within Bolero and cannot be transferred externally. This structure is designed to enhance security, reduce operational and fraud risks, and ensure compliance with the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCAR). The launch addresses increasing client demand for regulated digital asset access and marks a significant milestone in integrating cryptocurrencies into Belgium’s traditional banking sector.
