Zerohash seeks US trust bank charter for crypto expansion
Zerohash has applied for a U.S. national trust bank charter, aiming to expand its regulated digital asset services and enhance its federal regulatory standing.
Zerohash, a digital asset infrastructure provider, has formally applied for a U.S. national trust bank charter with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). This move would allow Zerohash to operate as a federally regulated national trust bank, expanding its service offerings and strengthening its regulatory position. The application is designed to complement Zerohash’s existing global licenses and enable the company to deliver a comprehensive suite of regulated digital asset financial services. These services include custody for digital assets and fiat currency, staking, validator services, trade execution, and stablecoin management. Zerohash currently supports major partners such as Morgan Stanley, Stripe, and Franklin Templeton. Obtaining the charter would allow Zerohash to operate under a federal framework, aligning with the evolving regulatory landscape for stablecoins and digital assets in the U.S. This step reflects a broader industry trend of crypto firms seeking federal banking charters to gain regulatory clarity and expand their offerings nationwide.
