Worldcoin has rolled out a major update to its World app, introducing cryptocurrency payments and an encrypted chat feature called World Chat. The app now enables users to send and receive WLD tokens and over 100 other cryptocurrencies, including USDC, EURC, wBTC, and Ethereum, through virtual accounts. Users can receive salaries in crypto, convert funds from bank accounts, and make global payments without extra fees. The encrypted chat function uses end-to-end encryption and verifies users as unique humans, aiming to prevent impersonation and spam. Additional features include support for stablecoins, regional tokens, and QR payments at over a million merchants. The update also enhances digital identity with verification badges and age-assurance tools. The company plans to further simplify iris authentication to lower the verification barrier for users.
