Singapore Surpasses US as Global Crypto Adoption Leader
Singapore has surpassed the US as the top country for crypto adoption, driven by regulatory clarity, high user engagement, and innovation. Lithuania, Switzerland, and the UAE also rank highly, with Asia-Pacific markets performing strongly.
Singapore has overtaken the United States to become the world’s leading country for cryptocurrency adoption, according to the 2025 World Crypto Rankings by Bybit and DL Research. The report evaluated 79 countries using 28 metrics and 92 data points, focusing on regulatory clarity, institutional readiness, and user penetration. Singapore’s top ranking is attributed to its clear regulatory framework, high user engagement—with over 11% of its population holding cryptocurrency—and a pro-innovation environment. The city-state’s licensing regime has attracted major exchanges and fintech firms, while its government has implemented robust consumer protection measures. Lithuania, Switzerland, and the UAE also ranked highly, with small European countries performing well due to their quick embrace of crypto regulation. Asia-Pacific markets claimed six of the top 20 spots, with Vietnam and Hong Kong also in the top ten. The report highlights trends such as the rapid growth of real-world asset tokenization, the rise of local currency-pegged stablecoins, and a significant increase in crypto payroll adoption.
