Binance Pay enables crypto payments at PayPay merchants

Binance Pay lets overseas users spend crypto at millions of PayPay merchants in Japan via HIVEX, with merchants paid in yen. The service supports 100+ cryptocurrencies for 48 million users.

Binance Pay has introduced a new service that allows eligible overseas users and international tourists to pay with cryptocurrencies—including Tether USDt (USDT), Bitcoin (BTC), and over 100 other digital assets—at PayPay-supported merchants across Japan. Launching on September 30, 2026, this integration is powered by the HIVEX payment interoperability framework, which connects overseas QR payment services to PayPay’s extensive merchant network. Merchants receive settlements in Japanese yen, eliminating currency risk and requiring no additional opt-in. The service is available to approximately 48 million Binance Pay users from over 100 countries and regions, enabling crypto spending at millions of locations nationwide, including major chains, retailers, vending machines, taxis, and public transport. This initiative expands Binance Pay’s presence in Japan’s advanced cashless market, making digital asset payments more accessible for travelers and bridging crypto with local payment networks for seamless, borderless transactions.
