Emirates launches crypto payments for UAE flights

Emirates now accepts crypto payments via Crypto.com Pay for UAE residents booking flights in dirhams. Payments settle in AED, not crypto, and require a Crypto.com account.

Emirates has introduced Crypto.com Pay as a new payment option on its website and mobile app, enabling eligible UAE residents to book flights using cryptocurrencies. This service is available exclusively for bookings priced and settled in Emirati dirham (AED) and requires users to have an active Crypto.com account. Payments are processed through Crypto.com, with Emirates receiving settlements in dirhams or dirham-backed stablecoins, rather than cryptocurrencies directly. The integration follows a partnership agreement signed in July 2025 and utilizes a Stored Value Facilities licence from the Central Bank of the UAE. For mobile users, the payment process redirects them to the Crypto.com app, while desktop users complete transactions by scanning a QR code. This initiative aligns with Dubai’s strategy to boost digital transactions and meets the growing demand for flexible payment options among travelers.
