Trump hints at Bitcoin in Trump Accounts
Trump is open to adding Bitcoin to Trump Accounts, calling himself a "big crypto guy." No immediate plans were announced, and current law restricts investments to U.S. stocks.
President Donald Trump has signaled openness to potentially including Bitcoin in the newly launched Trump Accounts—government-backed investment accounts for children designed to foster long-term wealth. At the official launch, Trump described himself as a "big crypto guy" and emphasized the strategic significance of digital assets, especially in the context of competition with China. Although Trump did not announce immediate plans to add Bitcoin, he remarked that "something could happen" in the future. Currently, Trump Accounts are restricted by law to investments in U.S. stock index funds, with no provision for Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies at this stage. The launch event also introduced a dedicated app for families, offering comprehensive account management and financial education tools. Trump further addressed his family's involvement in crypto ventures, distancing himself from them amid ongoing debates in Washington regarding crypto-related conflicts of interest and regulatory measures.
