Circle and Cassava bring USDC to 30 African countries

Circle and Sasai Fintech will bring USDC to 30 African countries, aiming to make money transfers faster, cheaper, and more efficient for businesses and individuals.

Circle Internet Group is making its first major move into Africa by partnering with Sasai Fintech, the payments division of Cassava Technologies, which is backed by Nvidia. This partnership will integrate USDC, Circle’s dollar-pegged stablecoin, into Sasai’s digital payment platform, expanding access to around 30 African countries. The initiative aims to streamline money transfers, making them faster, more affordable, and more efficient for both businesses and individuals. It addresses challenges such as high remittance costs, slow settlements, and local currency depreciation. By leveraging USDC and Circle’s on-chain infrastructure, the collaboration seeks to connect Africa’s mobile-first economies to the global financial system. The partnership will pilot real-world applications, from consumer transfers to enterprise transactions, supporting financial inclusion and the continent’s growing digital economy.
