Nasdaq and Kraken launch tokenized stock trading platform
Nasdaq and Kraken will launch a 24/7 tokenized stock trading platform by 2027, offering global investors digital shares with full shareholder rights and streamlined settlements.
Nasdaq and Kraken have announced a partnership to create a platform for trading tokenized stocks and exchange-traded products. This initiative aims to bridge traditional equity markets with blockchain networks, enabling investors to trade digital versions of stocks around the clock. Investors will receive the same rights as traditional shareholders, including voting and dividends. The platform is expected to launch in early 2027, pending regulatory approval. It will utilize Nasdaq’s regulated market infrastructure and Kraken’s xStocks system for on-chain settlements. Tokenized shares will be available to Kraken customers outside the U.S., focusing on Europe and other international markets. To ensure compliance, Payward Services will handle KYC and AML checks. Tokenized and traditional shares will remain interchangeable, settled through the Depository Trust. This move highlights the growing integration of traditional finance with blockchain, offering benefits like fractional ownership, faster settlements, and reduced intermediary costs.
