X Money beta launches with fiat focus, crypto unclear

X Money’s external beta launches soon, focusing on fiat payments. Crypto integration is still uncertain. The service aims to become X’s central payment hub for all users.

X Money, the payment service developed for X (formerly Twitter), is set to launch a limited external beta within the next one to two months, following a successful internal closed beta among company staff. The initial rollout will be available to a select group of users, with plans for gradual geographic expansion and eventual global access for all X users. The beta will focus on fiat currency transactions, leveraging partnerships with major payment providers such as Visa. The integration of cryptocurrency remains uncertain at this stage. X Money is designed to become the central hub for all monetary transactions on the platform, supporting X’s broader ambition to evolve into an “everything app” that combines messaging, shopping, content, and financial management. This phased rollout aims to ensure stability, regulatory compliance, and to gather feedback from early users before a full public launch. X currently boasts around 600 million monthly active users and over 1 billion app installs, with ambitions for continued growth.
