Buy Crypto with Apple Pay Now Native in Tangem

Buying crypto just got significantly simpler for Tangem users on iOS. We’ve integrated Native Apple Pay through Mercuryo’s on-ramp infrastructure, enabling users to buy crypto directly inside the Tangem app without ever being redirected to an external browser or payment page.

The purchase flow is fully embedded. Tap Add funds, select your asset, confirm with Face ID or Touch ID, and the crypto is added to your Tangem Wallet.

What is Mercuryo?

Mercuryo is a global payments infrastructure platform specializing in fiat-to-crypto on-ramp services. It is already integrated into Tangem as one of the core buy providers, alongside MoonPay and Simplex.

This integration specifically enables Mercuryo’s Apple Pay feature, a meaningful upgrade from the redirect-based flows that most wallets currently use. Rather than opening a webview or external payment page, the Apple Pay sheet appears natively within the Tangem app, using the card already stored on the user’s device.

How it improves on-ramping for you

On-ramp friction is one of the leading causes of drop-off in crypto adoption. Every extra step between a user deciding to begin their journey is a point of failure.

The redirect model is the worst offender. The user taps Buy inside an app, gets sent to a browser, enters card details in an unfamiliar interface, and has to navigate back. That flow exists because most on-ramp integrations are surface-level. Native Apple Pay removes it entirely.

Apple Pay is already how hundreds of millions of people pay for things. The card is saved, authentication is biometric, and confirmation takes seconds. Bringing that same experience to crypto purchases is a meaningful step forward for self-custody accessibility.

Purchase limits and verification

The non-KYC purchase limit is $700. Below that threshold, no identity verification is required.
 

For purchases above $700, standard verification applies. Mercuryo handles KYC directly. Tangem does not access, store, or process any personal data submitted during verification.

How to Buy Crypto with Apple Pay in Tangem

Make sure your Tangem app is up to date before you begin.

1. Open the Tangem app and go to your portfolio.
    
2. Select the cryptocurrency you want to purchase, for example, Bitcoin or USDT.
    
3. Tap Buy.
    
4. Confirm your country of residence. Change it if necessary.
    
5. Enter the amount in fiat. Tangem Express will automatically fetch the best available rate from connected providers.
    
6. Select Mercuryo as your provider from the list.
    
7. Select Apple Pay as your payment method.
    
8. Review the transaction details and confirm with Face ID or Touch ID. Scan your Tangem card or ring if applicable.
    
9. The crypto will be sent directly to your Tangem Wallet address. Most purchases arrive within minutes, though it can occasionally take a few hours depending on network conditions.

The purchase flow never leaves the Tangem app, and your crypto goes straight to your public address.
