Masked gang threatens pregnant wife in crypto heist
A masked gang attacked a Solihull couple, forcing a crypto transfer under threats to kill the pregnant wife. The violent, planned ordeal was caught on CCTV. Police are investigating.
A masked gang armed with hammers violently attacked a couple in their Solihull home, forcing the husband to transfer hundreds of thousands of pounds in cryptocurrency under threats to kill his heavily pregnant wife and unborn child. The 45-minute ordeal was believed to be planned and targeted, with instructions relayed by a fourth accomplice via video call. The gang demanded access to the husband’s phone and crypto apps, suffocated the wife with a pillow, and threatened to stab her if their demands were not met. Several Rolex watches were also stolen. The incident was captured on CCTV, and Crimestoppers has offered a £10,000 reward for information. Police are investigating, and experts warn that such violent “wrench attacks” targeting cryptocurrency holders are on the rise, with recovery of stolen digital assets proving extremely difficult.
