Funding, Withdrawals & Fees

This article covers how to load funds into your Tangem Pay account, how withdrawals work, what fees apply, and important warnings about supported tokens.

Which tokens are supported?

Tangem Pay only supports USDC on the Polygon network. This is the only token accepted by your Tangem Pay smart contract account.

Important: Sending any other token — including USDC on a different network, or any other cryptocurrency — to your Tangem Pay address will result in permanent, unrecoverable loss of those funds. There is no way to retrieve, convert, or return incorrectly sent tokens. Always verify you are sending USDC on Polygon before confirming any transfer.

How can I add funds to my account?

Option A — Transfer directly from your Tangem Wallet

  1. Open your Tangem Pay account
  2. Tap Add funds
  3. Tap From your Tangem Wallet
  4. Choose crypto and the wallet you want to transfer from
  5. Enter the amount you want to transfer and review the blockchain transaction fee
  6. Tap Transfer/Swap.
  7. If you select a cryptocurrency other than USDC on the Polygon network, you will be prompted to choose from the available swap providers.
  8. Confirm the transaction to sign it. For more details, see How to confirm actions in your wallet.

Option B — Send from another wallet or exchange

  1. Open your Tangem Pay account.
  2. Tap Add funds
  3. Tap From another wallet or exchange
  4. Copy the receiving address and paste it on the sending platform to transfer USDC via the Polygon blockchain.

Important: Never send any crypto other than USDC on the Polygon network directly to your Tangem Pay address — doing so will result in permanent, unrecoverable loss of funds. You do not need POL tokens to make card payments. POL is only relevant when sending USDC from your wallet to top up.

How do I withdraw funds?

Your Tangem Pay balance is held in a smart contract you control. You can withdraw any available USDC back to your Tangem Wallet at any time by tapping Withdraw in the app.

  1. Open your Tangem Pay account
  2. Tap Withdraw
  3. Choose the token you want to receive to your Tangem Wallet
    a. If you select USDC on the Polygon network, you will be able to send it directly to your Tangem wallet without a swap
    b. If you select a cryptocurrency other than USDC on the Polygon network, you will be prompted to choose from the available swap providers
  4. Confirm the transaction by entering your access code or using biometric authentication and scanning your Tangem Wallet card

Will I receive my crypto back if my purchase made with a Tangem Pay card is refunded?

Refunds work differently from withdrawals and this distinction is important to understand.

If a merchant issues a refund, the amount is returned to your card balance and will be available for spending again. However, it will not be returned to your on-chain USDC balance and cannot be withdrawn back to your wallet.

Additionally, your on-chain USDC balance and your card balance are not always identical. After a purchase, your on-chain balance may take up to 2 business days to update. During this window the two balances may differ — this is normal.

Why can't I withdraw my full balance?

If you are unable to withdraw your full balance, it may be because part of your balance consists of refunded funds, which remain in the card program and cannot be withdrawn. If you believe there is an error, contact pay@tangem.com with your wallet logs and a description of the issue.

What fees apply to transactions?

There are no monthly account fees or standard transaction fees for using Tangem Pay.

The following charges may apply:

  • Foreign exchange markups — if you make a purchase in a currency other than USD, Visa’s standard foreign exchange rates apply. When paying abroad, selecting the local currency at the terminal (rather than USD) typically results in lower fees.
  • Polygon network gas fees — apply when you send USDC from your wallet to top up your Tangem Pay account. These are network fees, not charged by Tangem, and vary based on network conditions.
  • ATM withdrawals — not yet available.

A full fee schedule is provided during sign-up and is available in your cardholder agreement at paera.com.

Can I make a bank transfer to or from my Tangem Pay account?

In some regions, you can make a bank transfer to your Tangem Pay account. Availability depends on the country where you verified your Tangem Pay account.

Currently, ACH and Fedwire transfers are supported. If this feature is available in your region, you'll see the option in the app.

What fees apply to bank transfers?

ACH transfers cost $1 and typically take up to 3 business days to complete.

Fedwire transfers cost $11 and typically take up to 1 business day to complete.

The transfer fee is deducted from the amount received. Please note that the sender may also be subject to additional fees charged by their bank when initiating the transfer.

For example:

  • To receive $1,000 USDC via ACH, the sender should send $1,001.
  • To receive $1,000 USDC via Fedwire, the sender should send $1,011.

This ensures that the full $1,000 USDC is received after the applicable transfer fee is deducted.

How to add funds via bank transfer?

If bank transfers are supported in your region:

  1. Open your Tangem Pay account.
  2. Tap Add funds.
  3. Tap Bank Transfer.
  4. Tap Show details.
  5. Wait for your banking details to be generated. This may take some time.
  6. Once your account details are ready, share them with the sender or enter them on the sending platform.

Funds can be sent from either your personal bank account or a third-party account.

Once the transfer is completed, you will receive USDC directly to your Tangem Pay account balance.

How to withdraw funds via bank transfer?

At the moment, withdrawals via bank transfer are not supported. However, this feature is planned for a future update.
