Still open the package yourself and set it up only via the official app.

Supply-chain risk is the real issue here, not the chip itself. Tangem’s app checks card authenticity and warns if the wallet was already activated, which is meant to catch pre-seeded or pre-setup devices before you fund them. Seed is optional - keys stay inside the EAL6+ chip. Still only buy direct from the manufacturer.

No copies exist outside your Tangem device (recommended). 2. Generate a seed phrase with the Tangem app and import it to the hardware device. 3. Import your seed phrase from another crypto wallet. Note that seed phrases can be copied and stolen, unlike private keys generated offline.
