Tangem update: WalletConnect v2.0, derivation paths

The latest version of our app is live on the App Store and Google Play. Let’s take a look at what’s new.

The Tangem app now supports WalletConnect v2.0, the next edition of the protocol for connecting wallets to DApps. The new version includes lots of valuable new features, but the most important thing to know is that the protocol has become more secure and includes support for the operation of several blockchains at once (you can now interact with Ethereum and Polkadot DApps at the same time, for example), while connecting to new decentralized applications is easier and faster.

Another innovation is that you can now select address derivations for non-EVM-compatible blockchains in addition to EVM ones when adding tokens.

Then there’s a slightly subtler, but nonetheless important fix for people who are frequently sending and receiving BTC. Previously, you couldn’t send bitcoins from a wallet that was in the process of receiving an incoming transaction. Nothing critical, but a bit annoying. We’ve now solved this issue, so incoming transfers won’t affect your Bitcoin transactions. This feature is only on iOS for now, but it will be rolled out to Android very soon.
