What do I do if I can’t scan the card or ring on Android?
To scan your Tangem Wallet on an Android device, please follow these step-by-step instructions:
Step 1. Check NFC support on your device
Make sure your mobile device supports NFC. Not all smartphones have an NFC module, although most modern devices support this function.
Step 2. Find the NFC module
The NFC antenna may be located in different places on your smartphone, depending on its brand and model.
The location of the NFC module on Android devices depends not only on the brand but also on the device model. You will find more detailed information on the manufacturers' websites: Samsung, Huawei, Sony Xperia, Google Pixel, Motorola, LG, HTC, Nokia.
Step 3. Position the Tangem Wallet
Bring the Tangem card or ring as close as possible to your mobile device's NFC module. Ensure no obstacles between the card or ring and the phone's NFC module that could interfere with scanning.
If you are scanning the ring, it must be removed from your finger and placed against the phone. Please note that the Tangem app must be open for the ring to be scanned.
Step 4. Hold to Scan
Do not remove the Tangem card or ring from your mobile device until the scan is complete—you might hear a beep or see a visual indicator on your device.
Step 5. Remove the card or ring from the phone after the scan is complete
We recommend keeping the Tangem device near your phone only when the Tangem app requests it and the scanning window is open. Do not hold the card or ring close to the phone while entering the access code. Additionally, we do not recommend storing the card in a phone case.
Recommendations
• Make sure NFC is enabled on your device, including the Tangem app.
• Please note that using a smartphone case may make scanning difficult. We recommend removing your phone case before scanning your Tangem Wallet.
• The location of the NFC module on Android mobile devices may vary depending on the device model. Therefore, you need to determine its exact location on your phone. This can be done through the “Help” button, which is located in the scanning window.
• It is important to keep devices still while scanning to avoid losing connection.
• Remove the card or ring while entering the access code and place it back on the phone when the scanning window opens.
• To use NFC, your phone's display must not be locked, and you may need to enable NFC in your smartphone's settings.
• In some cases, we also recommend restarting your mobile device.
