What is Rebase?
About the coinREBASE is the first rebase project on the Base network, sharing an ideological root with its predecessor, Ampleforth. It believes in the future of elastic supply cryptocurrencies and aims to bring this type of digital asset to Base as a key DeFi primitive. This allows for the development of other interesting DeFi components on top, such as flatcoins and vaults.
Main featuresRebase is unique as the first rebasing token on Base. The concept of rebasing, introduced by Ampleforth in 2017, gained popularity during the DeFi Summer bull run of 2020. Rebasing refers to the token supply being elastic and changing according to market price. This shifts price volatility to supply volatility, enabling a new generation of DeFi products to be built on top.
How it worksRebase launched in August 2023 as a completely fair launch project with no premine. 85% of the supply was preloaded into Volcanos, the community liquidity reward program. Rebase plans to become the largest rebase project on Base, expanding into the rapidly growing Base ecosystem. The token can be used as a digital commodity money, similar to Bitcoin, and as a liquidity layer on protocols, allowing for no-impermanent-loss liquidity pools or as a backstop for flatcoins.
