Bytecoin employs the CryptoNote algorithm, which uses ring signatures to ensure transaction anonymity. This means that while a message can be signed on behalf of a group, the actual signer remains indistinguishable. Additionally, Bytecoin uses a variation of the Diffie-Hellman exchange protocol to generate multiple unique one-time addresses for a receiver, derived from a single public key, ensuring that payments cannot be cross-linked.

How it works

Bytecoin operates as a peer-to-peer payment system similar to Bitcoin, but with enhanced privacy features. It uses an Egalitarian Proof-of-Work (PoW) algorithm, which is a version of scrypt, allowing for more efficient CPU mining rigs. This approach aims to reduce the centralization seen in Bitcoin mining, where powerful GPU and ASIC machines dominate.
