What is IoTeX (IOTX)?

IoTeX is a dedicated blockchain infrastructure created for the Internet of Things (IoT). Its primary goal is to offer a scalable, privacy-focused platform supporting the many devices that form the IoT landscape. Spearheaded by a global team of experts in cryptography, distributed systems, and machine learning, IoTeX ensures a robust and secure foundation.

What is an IoTeX wallet?

An IoTeX wallet is designed to manage private keys, granting you control over your IoTeX address. This wallet, however, does not store the IoTeX coins themselves; they remain securely on the blockchain. The primary function of an IoTeX wallet is to generate and keep these private keys safe, allowing you to access and oversee your IoTeX accounts. Essentially, an IoTeX wallet is a gateway for storing, sending, receiving, and managing IoTeX.

How does an IoTeX wallet work?

IoTeX wallets utilize public and private key pairs to manage your blockchain accounts. The private key is the key to accessing your specific IoTeX account and must be kept secret, whereas the public key can be shared to accept IoTeX. Withdrawals require the corresponding private key. With Tangem Wallet, private keys are generated and securely kept within the chip.

What are the types of IoTeX wallets?

• Exchange IoTeX Wallets: Centralized platforms like Coinbase, Binance, and Kraken offer IoTeX purchases using fiat currencies through custodial wallets. These may involve risks such as potential account access issues.

• Software IoTeX Wallets: Installed on your device, these wallets help manage private keys and IoTeX transactions. They are user-friendly but vulnerable to malware and cyber threats, with variants including mobile, desktop, and browser-based wallets.

• Mobile IoTeX Wallets: Applications on smartphones that allow you to manage your IoTeX.

• Desktop IoTeX Wallets: Software on computers that stores private keys on the hard drive or SSD.

• Hardware IoTeX Wallets: Physical devices like Tangem providing offline security against online risks.

How to Choose the Best IoTeX Wallet

Choosing an IoTeX wallet depends on your needs, focusing on user-friendliness, reliability, durability, and security. If safe storage of large amounts of IoTeX is your priority, a hardware wallet like Tangem is recommended.
